What Is Shazam?

Shazam is a music discovery application for Android which has a perplexing feature of identifying a song’s name and its artist just by playing a song in its range.

It can also send the information about the song in the form of a text message to your recipient if you are on a call.

What Made Apple Purchase Shazam?

In the midst of 2008, Apple had launched something similar to Shazam in the form of a digital assistant for iOS and called it Siri. It covered most of the features Shazam provides, however, people also got the wrong results. In fact, many confronted it to be unable to guess the song despite being played clearly.

Moreover, the launch of Apple HomePod is near and there is no way Apple could afford any flaws in it. Therefore, having bought Shazam, Apple’s HomePod will not only be empowered as Siri will be the source of interaction with HomePod but compete with Google’s Home and Amazon’s smart-speaker devices.

How will Shazam Benefit Apple?

Apart from enhancing the performance of HomePod, Apple will get a large amount of important data about the songs searched by Shazam’s users. It’ll help Apple choose the right song to sell and target the right customers.

Conclusion:

The new purchase will boost the quality of Apple’s business services further and the iOS users will be less hesitant to make app purchases. In fact, they can answer the trolls of Android users while standing abreast as it earned an extra point after the deal.
