Just like every year or I must say multiple times per every year, Nvidia announced the fastest GPU in the history today. According to Nvidia, The Titan V is “the world’s most powerful PC GPU ever built.” This claim of Nvidia sounds very promising as it’s the first consumer-grade GPU based on Nvidia’s new Volta architecture.
Titan V: The Most Powerful PC GPU Ever Created, Released at $2,999 USD
The Titan V is priced at $2,999 USD. This GPU with Volta architecture has approximately 21 billion transistor count. It houses manufacturing process named TSMC 12nm FinFET+.
The Cuda cores of the world’s fastest graphics card are around 5,120 which is over 1000 cores more than the Titan XP. The Cuda cores of Titan V are double than that of GTX 1080. The SMMs and SMXs of the Titan V are also double of that of GTX 1080. Titan V’s SMMs and SMXs are 40 whereas GTX 1080 has 20.
The core clock, Boost clock and Memory clock of the Titan V are 1,200 MHz, 1,455 MHz and 1,700 MHz respectively. The VRAM that the Titan V houses are 4 GB more than the GTX 1080. Titan V has 12 Gigs of VRAM.
The Memory Bus is at 3072-bit that is almost 3,000 bit more than the Titan XP, GTX 1080 and the GTX 1060. Memory bandwidth is 653 Gigs more than double of GT 1080 and FP performance is 15 TFLOPS. The thermal threshold is also great at 91 degrees Celsius. The TDP is 250 W.
While the Titan V is a ‘consumer-grade’ desktop graphics card, it is more for those researchers, scientists and developers working in the fields of AI and machine learning. Although no gaming performance information has yet been made public, it is expected to out soon.
There is still no idea about when gaming-focused Volta-bases GPUs will arrive. GPUs like GTX 1080Ti are a wish list of most of the gamers.
The Titan V is now available to be purchased from Nvidia’s online stores. Only 2 units per customer are allowed and are available only in selected markets.
