Instagram and Apple Watch, both are the best of their kinds. Having them on the same platform was the best thing. But, it is not possible anymore. Yes, you heard it right. Instagram has pulled out its support from Apple watch. Though the company did not mention anything about the update in release notes, but the updated version ‘version 39.0’ on iPhone does not have a support for Apple watch on Instagram.

Having the control of Instagram on a watch is a treat for an Instagram lover. You can scroll your Instagram feed, leave comments and like photos through your Apple watch. Basically, you are able to keep an update of your Instagram notification through your wrist, allowing you to watch the number of comments and likes on the picture of your breakfast that you uploaded an hour ago.

By removing the Apple watch support from its App, Instagram has joined the list of companies like Whole Foods, Slack, Amazon, eBay, Google Maps, and ecobee, who have also pulled out Apple watch support in few last months.

According to the reports, this change comes with “general bug fixes and performance improvements”. But as per 9to5Mac Notes, this update may have happened due to new restriction enforced by Apple. “As of April 1st, updates to Apple Watch apps must use the watchOS 2 SDK or later, while new Watch apps have to built with watch OS 4 SDK. Instagram’s app dates back to the days of WatchKit 1.0 when third party-party software wasn’t able to run natively on the watch itself; it never got features like video support or the ability to work over LTE connection.” Reads a post by The Verge.

It will be interesting to know that what we will be missing out because of this update.
