Apple has given a sneak peak of wireless charging mat along with the flagship iPhone X, the Airpods case for charging and an Apple Watch. This wireless charging mat is named as AirPower.

As per the rumors, the AirPower charging mat was supposed to be launched in March 2018. However, there is no report of the launch of this device until now. There was no mention of this device even at Apple’s WWDC 2018 developer conference which was held earlier this month.

However, according to a Bloomberg report, Apple is all set to sell the AirPower mat exactly after one year of its announcement i.e. later in September 2018.

There is a reason why Apple hasn’t talked publicly about the AirPower mat yet. According to the report, there were some technical difficulties that Apple was facing in the development of AirPower.

According to the sources, experts in Apple are facing difficulties in figuring out the complex circuitry to make sure that the AirPower doesn’t overheat while charging 3 devices at one go.

Sources also mention that Apple is trying to develop its own custom chips as well as charging tech. The company is also trying to integrate the new vetch with Qi charging standard to seek integrated multiple charging sensors into the AirPower. This kind of technology is used to enable the Airpower to detect multiple devices and charging them all at once.

Apple has to face major loss due to the delay in the launch of AirPower mat. Many other companies have launched other alternatives to the AirPower in the market.

As per the reports, “The AirPower charger is also more advanced than the current competition because it includes a custom Apple chip running a stripped-down version of the iOS mobile operating system to conduct on-device power management and pairing with devices.” Apple is working to fix bugs related to its firmware.
