Huawei’s Nova 5 Series Debuted With Flagship Phones and A New Chipset
Welcoming the latest bunch into Huawei family, Nova 5 series consists of three smartphones namely Nova 5 Pro, Nova 5 and Nova 5i. Where the 5 Pro being the flagship, 5 is a standard edition and 5i is somewhat stripped and affordable one of all. Alongside, the company has also unleashed its new Kirin 810 SoC which is of 7nm. Previously, there’s only the 980 SoC built on the 7nm process. We’ll see where it has been embedded.
Specifications:
Both Nova 5 Pro and standard 5 sports a 6.39″ (1080×2340) OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and dew-drop styles.
While the flagships are coming with punch-hole display these days, here, in Nova series, the affordable one gets a punch-hole design and the rest greater variants sport a dew-drop display design.
The hardware comprises of flagship and latest SoCs of Kirin 980 (5 Pro) and Kirin 810 (5), both built on the 7nm process. The new Kirin 810 SoC has two Cortex-A76 cores clocking at 2.27GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocking at 1.88GHz. There chipsets compromises of Mali G76 MP10 and Mali G52 MP6 GPUs respectively.
The imaging capabilities are the same for both. As they have a quad rear setup of 48MP (1.8) + 16MP (f/2.2) + 2MP (f/2.4) + 2MP (f.24) and a 32MP (f/2.0) as front camera. Possessing an under-display fingerprint scanner, these both will be power by a 3500mAh battery with 40W charge support. That’s incredible as it fuels the empty battery to 50% just with 15mins!
The smallest, Nova 5i, on the other hand, has a 6.4″ LCD display and runs on Kirin 710 SoC. This will be having the fingerprint sensor on the rear and powered by a 4000mAh (10W) battery. The imaging include a 24MP (f/1.8) + 8MP + 2MP (f/2.4) + 2MP (f/2.4) lens as rear cameras and a 24MP (f/2.0) camera upfront.
All of these will be running on EMUI 9.1 over Android 9 Pie. The ban isn’t applicable yet, at least for these smartphones.
