Reliance Jio is leaving no stone unturned to establish its spread in the tech market. After 4G feature phone and smartphones, Reliance Jio may launch a Laptop with a cellular connectivity. Yes, you heard it right. These Laptops will come with a SIM card.
Laptops With Cellular Connectivity Can Be The Reliance Jio’s Next Big Step
Reliance Jio had talks with Qualcomm, US chip major to create laptops that have Windows 10 operating system along with built-in cellular connections. These Laptops are exclusively built for the India market. “…we have talked to Jio, they could take the device and bundle it with data and content,” told Miguel Nunes, senior director, product management, Qualcomm Technologies, to ET.
According to Neil Shah, research director, devices and ecosystems at Counterpoint Research, laptops connected with cellular network could be the next big ARPU device for operators beyond smartphones.
“So if these productivity-centric devices are connected to cellular networks, it will boost the value proposition, driving growth for this segment: first, by providing ubiquitous connectivity on the go and, second, in terms of privacy and security as the cellular connectivity is highly secure compared to Wi-Fi hotspots,” said Neil Shah.
“We are trying to make sure that the operators understand the value. It’s new for the OEMs, new for the operators, and new for the channel.” Said Qualcomm’s Miguel Nunes.
These laptops will work miraculously for solving the network issues. Users don’t need Wi-Fi or any other network support for using the internet. It will be interesting to know what this laptop will have for us in its account.
