While everyone’s hovering around the foldable phones and 5G in MWC’s event, LG manages to grab its fair share of popularity by including some niche features in its flagships LG G8 ThinkQ and LG V50.

LG Announced G8 ThinQ and V50 With 5G
LG G8 ThinQ
It’s a 6.1″ AMOLED display with reasonable bezels. With 1440 x 3120 resolution, it has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and is protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
It comes with 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM and a dedicated slot for MicroSD (up to 512GB).
In the imaging department, there’s a triple rear setup of 12MP (f/1.5) + 16MP (f/1.9) + 12MP (f/2.4) with their respective roles of primary sensing, ultra wide-angle capturing and telephone imaging. The camera section is market dependent. According to the area it’s selling, the variants can have dual or triple camera setup. If it’s dual, LG takes off the telephoto lens and rest two remains the same.
In the frontier, there’s an 8MP (f/1.7) so shooter with ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. This sensor adds a new feature called Hand ID, where the user can unlock the mobile by hovering his hand over. That’s a palm-vein authentication!
The system is processed by Snapdragon’s 855 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU.
Running on Android 9, G8 ThinQ is powered by 3500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0. It has the wireless charging and available in three colors of Red, Black, and Blue.
There’s a stripped down variant of G8 ThinQ called “G8s“. Which has all the features of main G8 ThinQ but with fewer specifications and will be priced at a competitive segment.
LG V50 ThinQ
It sports a 6.4″ display and 4000mAh better with Quick Charge support. Features of CPU, GPU, connectivities, and outlook resembles the G8 but changing an imaging section. It has triple rear setup of 12MP (f/1.5) + 12MP (f/2.4) + 16MP (1.9) and a dual front setup of 8MP (f/1.9) + 5MP (f/2.2). This V50 doesn’t have the ToF sensor and comes in 6GB + 128GB variant.
Both the mobiles are IP68 certified for water/dust proof and bear DTS: XSurround Audio system as notable niches.
