Microsoft ‘Movies & TV’ App Supposedly To Come On Android & iOS
As per the report in Windows Central, “Microsoft is building these apps to give consumers more of a reason to buy content in the Microsoft Store.” Microsoft is doing this to make people aware of the content that they are using.
Moreover, “Lots of people buy digital movies and TV content, and Microsoft has a huge store that a lot of people seemingly ignore or don’t know about because there is no mobile companion app for their phone,” says the report. However, Microsoft gave no official comment on this.
If “Movies & TV” app is coming to Android & iOS, it could get tough competition to platforms like iTunes, Google Play Movies & TV, and many other platforms. It will compete against iTunes, in particular, pertaining to its popularity among Windows user. iTunes was the most searched app before it came to Microsoft’s Windows Store.
Microsoft has already shut down its Groove Music service after doing a partnership with the online music streaming company Spotify. As reported by media, the company has asked its customers to safely keep all the data or transfer playlists that they downloaded on Groove to Spotify. However, the company has said nothing about the “Movies & TV” app at that time.
It will be interesting to know how the “Movies & TV” app on Android and iOS affect the user experience.
