Truecaller Launches VoIP Calling on Android. Update the App to Talk with Friends
Starting as a telephone directory, Truecaller has embedded spam reporting, messaging, mobile payments and even processing petty loans to its users. After all these, the company has now decided to add VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) feature, which enables users to talk over the phone using an active internet connection as a medium. Users don’t need to have a talk-time plan but a WiFi or data plan to connect.
Since long, Truecaller has been prompting its users to set up its platform/app as default for SMS inbox and dialer pad. And now, it added the direct calling from the app itself. It further says the call quality will be fine even on some buffering connections. That’s a good thing.
“We are ecstatic with the launch of Truecaller Voice. We have been working towards building a full communication suite for our users and voice calling is the next big step in line with this mission,” said Mr. Rishit Jhunjhunwala, VP of Product at Truecaller.
Besides calling, Truecaller has other useful features like booking buses on the app! The company has integrated with redBus a long back and been providing search, book, and payment on the app itself.
It said, “This collaboration with redBus will allow Truecaller travelers to carry out end-to-end booking transactions like login, search, compare and check out all with just Truecaller login credentials.”
You just need to link up your bank account like any other UPI registration and proceed for payments. Though these could be minor adding, they play a big role when the userbase is huge. This feature is currently enabled only for Android users and iOS guys had to wait for some time.
