Ah! Chinese everywhere. We see Xiaomi’s constant launches and got bored. Here’s Vivo now, calmly unveiling one of its Y-series smartphones.
In today’s event in China, Vivo has unveiled its ‘Y89‘ smartphone for a price tag of ¥1598 ($237). At present, it’s exclusive to China with word regarding Indian launch. This phone is available through Vivo China’s official website and AliExpress.

Specifications of Vivo Y89:
Display
A 6.26″ Full HD+ display with 1080×2280p resolution. Having an 84.2% screen-to-body ratio, it has 443ppi and 19:9 aspect ratio.
Chipset
It is processed by Snapdragon’s 626 CPU over the 14nm process. An octa-core with 2.2GHz clock speed and an Adreno 506 GPU.
Cameras
Sporting dual setup at the rear, it has a 16MP primary lens with 2.0 aperture and a 2MP (f/2.4) as a secondary lens with depth sensing capability. Front shooter is a 16MP with 2.0 aperture.
Memory
It has a 4GB RAM on board and only one variant of in-built 64GB ROM. Memory can be further expanded up to 256GB via SDcard.
Software
Comes with Android 8.1 Oreo and its bloatware – FunTouch OS as the skin over.
Battery
3260mAh battery non-removable battery. It’s currently unknown that it supports fast charging or not.
Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.2, USB 2.0 (on-the-go), WiFi, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and others like Accelerometer, Compass and Proximity sensors within.
And Vivo never fails to impress with its body outlook. Y89 comes in Aurora Blue and Black variants, non-gradient yet catchy.
Our opinion:
Vivo concentrated much on Cameras and neglected specs for this price range. So, this too seems to be another camera special and nothing else. Considering its overall specs, it seems to be okay and over-priced.
Remember, it is priced around ¥1600 ($237).
