- 720p HD at 30fps (lowest)
- 1080p HD at 30fps

By making some adjustments to your Display and Brightness you can improve your iPhone’s battery life. Follow these steps to adjust your Display settings:
Turn On Auto Brightness
- Go to Settings
- Tap on General > Accessibility > Display Accommodations
- Turn on Auto-Brightness.
Turn Off True Tone Display
The new iPhone models come with a feature called True Tone Display. By enabling True Tone Display, your phone will adjust to your surroundings and give you better colors on pictures. But it may take up your battery life. You can disable True tone either from Settings or from the Control Centre.
- Go to Settings
- Tap on General > Display & Brightness
- Disable True Tone Display.
- In the Control Centre, long-press the Brightness slider
- You can see True tone on the bottom right corner.
- Tap on it to Disable the feature.
-
Set Auto-Lock Time
Your iPhone consumes more battery power when your screen is on for a long time. By setting up the Auto-lock to minimum time, you can save up your battery life.
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Display & Brightness > Auto-lock
- You can set up the Auto-lock time duration between 30 seconds and 5 minutes
- Select the least amount of time (i.e) 30 seconds.
-
Turn off Background App Refresh
This feature allows apps to refresh in the background while you’re using your phone for other purposes. If you check the battery usage list, you can see the list of apps that take up more battery. You can check this information at:
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Battery
- Under Battery Usage, you can see the list of apps and the percentage of battery used by the apps.
You can improve your battery life by turning off the Background app refresh feature on apps that take up most of your battery.
- Go to Settings
- Tap on General > Background app refresh
- Turn off the feature on apps that eat up your battery.
-
Manage Notifications
Every time you get a notification your screen lights up and it all piles up on your lock screen. Though it may not take up a large of your battery life, it still has some impact on it. You can turn off notifications for apps that give out frequent or unnecessary updates. By doing this, you can increase your battery life by a considerable amount.
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Notifications
- Select an app and Disable Show on lock screen
-
Disable Raise to Wake
Raise to wake feature lights up your screen every time it sensors a movement (i.e) whenever you pick up your phone or take it out of your pocket, etc. But this can happen often as the screen lights up even with the slightest movement. By disabling this feature, you can improve your battery life.
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Display & Brightness
- Disable Raise to wake.
-
Disable Wifi and Bluetooth
In the latest iOS update, even though you turn off Wifi/Bluetooth from the Control Centre, they don’t necessarily turn off they just disconnect from the current network. The phone in-fact keeps the Wifi & Bluetooth on to find new connections in the area and once we turn it on it readily connects to them. So if you want to turn them off for real, you must go to Settings and disable them. This can be a great way to save up your iPhone’s battery.
-
Turn off Location Services
Everyone knows Location Services takes up most of our battery. Since the phone’s giving out real-time locations while we use other apps, it consumes our battery all the time. Turning off location services can have a huge impact on your battery life. You don’t have to turn off location services entirely, but you can manage this feature by doing as follows:
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Privacy
- Go to Location Services. If you want, you can disable this feature entirely.
- Or you can micro-manage this feature. You may find the list of apps that use this feature
- Tap on an app. You can choose from Never, While using or Always
- You can choose the while using option and save up some battery.
-
Disable Automatic Downloads
You don’t want your phone to update apps on their own when you’re low on battery. It will drain your battery in seconds. You can disable this feature and update them manually in your free time from the App Store. If you don’t want to disable it, you can turn off the “Use Mobile Data” feature so that updates happen only when you’re connected to a Wifi network.
- Go to Settings
- Tap on iTunes and App Store
- Disable Updates
- You can also turn off Use Mobile Data for automatic downloads.
-
Enable Airplane Mode
If you find yourself in a terrible/No service area, quickly switch to Airplane mode on your iPhone. Being in a low service area can take up your battery as your phone struggles to find a good signal. Instead of worrying about getting a signal, you can just accept the fact and turn on Airplane mode and save some battery life. You can either turn it on from the Control Centre or go to Settings and Enable Airplane Mode.
-
Turn off Vibration
Not just your iPhone, any device that vibrates often loses its battery life. And if you’re a school/college students you’ll get a ton of notifications out of nowhere which with the vibration mode on makes your phone go crazy. You can turn it off by:
- Go to Settings
- Tap on Sounds
- Now turn off both Vibrate on Ring and Vibrate on Silent to save up maximum battery.
-
Keep Your Software Up to date
Apple keeps on updating its software to provide its users with a smooth iOS experience. Always make sure your phone is running the latest iOS Version. You can update your phone either wirelessly while your phone is in charge or by connecting your phone to your PC and updating it with the latest version of iTunes.
These are the list of things you can do to save up battery life on your iPhone 8/ iPhone 8 Plus/iPhone X. Make use of them to get the most out of your new iPhone. You can also check the iOS 11 Features if you haven’t upgraded yet.
